This document was written to help new students of the Engineering colleges in India and specfically VTU, Karnataka who have to write an editor as part of their course work. This text editor is the one of the practical projects of a course titled System Software and is to be written for the Linux platform.
This document will help you gain some perspective into the different requirements that a simple tool like an editor can possess. Some of the different approaches are discussed. Some of the places where documentation is accessible are also introduced.
